Hallways are often forgotten about in the interior design world. They are neither here nor there, literally. The hallway acts as a link to another room and does not in itself serve a purpose, so when you begin thinking about your properties décor and central heating, it is easy to overlook these areas. When it comes down to it, the hallway plays a major part in the distribution of heat and in the ambiance of your home. Below are just a few of the reasons why it is important to heat your space with our hallway radiators.

What heat is required for your hallway?

Before you decide on any radiator. You’ll need to work out the BTU required for your hallway, get this wrong and you could end up with a radiator that's either too small it doesn't heat your space effectively. Or a radiator that's too large that you end up wasting energy or not being able to use it to the best of its abilities. Thankfully, working out the BTU required has become much easier. At DRD we have made a free and easy to use BTU calculator that will work all this out for you. But if you do have any questions just contact us for a helping hand.

The dreaded draft and your hallway

The hallway is a part of the home which acts as the main artery from your front door and your backdoor. This means that on a cold day, as soon as your door is opened, you’ll be letting in cold air, straight through the heart of your property. In just opening a door, you’ll be creating a rush of air which will send a chill through the home and can dramatically drop the temperature. Having hallway radiators installed will combat this on cold days, creating a buffer of warm air to combat the cold. The hallway radiator acts as protection from outside elements, especially because it is the most vulnerable to them.

The first point of contact between your home and your guests

If you are having guests in your home, the first thing they’ll see is your hallway. A bare hallway will no doubt speak volumes about your tastes, and can look stark and clinical. If you’re style conscious and want to impress visitors, a radiator is the perfect accessory, not just on a heating level, but on an aesthetic one too. Investing in a designer radiator will give you the opportunity not just to heat your hallway, but to spruce it up with artistic and design flare. There are plenty of eye-catching radiators out there, and finding the perfect one to reflect your unique tastes is sure to impress any visitors to your home.

Whether your home has a narrow hallway or a large one, there’s always a radiator to suit it. Whether that be a vertical radiator to save precious wall space or a horizontal one placed under a shelf, you have a lot of freedom to heat your hallway and express your artistic side.

Not just a hallway radiator, but a practical feature too

Hallways are the first and last point before entering or leaving your home. And without thinking about it, we always give our outfit or hair a double check before going anywhere. You may use your front room mirror or a small hallway mirror, but why not combine the two. If you have a narrow hallway you may not have the room for a full length mirror and radiator, so maybe you only have a small mirror on one side of the wall. Well, the perfect fix for this is mirrored radiators. Placing them at the end of your hallway allows you, and guests, to double check your whole outfit while the radiator also produces heat, keeping your hallway at a warm temperature.

Losing heat in other rooms

It's not just about heating your hallway. Other rooms can be affected by a cold hallway as well. A warm living room for instance, heated by your radiator and with the door closed, can lose all of its heat through a mere door being opened. If the hallway temperature is way below that of the living room, you risk a draft coming into the room. Now imagine that with all of the rooms connected to your hallway, you’ll end up wasting mass amounts of heating all over the home by simply opening doors. Which is not appealing at all. If your hallway is also well heated, the overall heating of your home will be better balanced.
