Although everyone admires our range of stylish vertical designer radiators, many people can be put off by the installation process and think that they’ll need to pay a plumber to help them achieve the look they want in their home.

But this just isn't the case, as vertical radiators are simple to install with a bit of know-how.

Tips For Installing A Vertical Radiator

Turn Your Heating Off

The first thing you’ll need to do before installing your vertical designer radiators is to ensure that your heating system is completely turned off. This makes it safe for you to get started. If your system is gravity fed, ensure that it doesn't fill with water.

Choose A Position For Your New Vertical Radiators

Before you even start to take your vertical designer radiators out of the packaging, make sure that you choose a space where it won’t be in the way of passing people, won’t be knocked by doors and is close to the current pipework.

Get Rid Of The Packaging

Next, it's time to remove all of the packagings from your new vertical designer radiators and ensure that you’ve got everything you need to get started. You should have a drill, measuring tape and pencil close at hand and a floor covering in place if you’re concerned about dirt and dust falling as you fix the radiator to the wall.

Add The Brackets

Before trying to place your vertical radiator on the wall, it's better to fit the bracket mounts first. This gives peace of mind that they are in the right position and fully support the radiator before you commit to the installation.

Fit The Valves

Now it’s time to fit the radiator valve spigots. This should happen nearest to where your pipework will be. It’s also a good idea to have some thread sealant to hand at this stage - PTFE tape is a good choice for this purpose.

Grab A Friend

Next, you’ll need to offer your designer vertical radiator up to the wall and make sure that any brackets or mounts are square.

You might need a little help marking the centres of the top brackets, so ask a friend to help you.

Get Everything Level

Nobody wants a wonky vertical radiator, so use a spirit level and measuring tape to mark the centre of where you want the radiator to be and draw a faint pencil line up. Now measure the distance between the radiator bracket holes to pinpoint the distance each bracket will be from the centre line.

It’s Time To Drill

Now that you’ve got your measurements, it’s time to get out your drill and attach the top bracket. Use the screws and plugs provided to ensure that the radiator is correctly fitted to the wall and won’t move.

Fix The Bottom Bracket

Follow the same process as above but this time, fix the bottom bracket to the wall. You're almost there!

Pipe Up To Your Valves

If you've measured everything correctly, then it should be a five-minute job to connect your vertical radiator valves to your heating pipework. Make sure that everything is secured and tighten accordingly because in the next phase, we'll be testing out your handiwork!

Fill The System

You now need to fill the system and turn your heating back on to make sure that everything is working properly before you show off your new-found vertical designer radiator installation skills!

Make sure that you check for any leaks during the filling process and tighten the valves a little more if you spot any unwanted leakage dripping on to the floor.
