This means that whether your home is traditional or modern in its furnishing, a traditional radiator won't look out of place. That's the great thing about radiators, whatever the model, there'll always be a place for that model somewhere in your property.

So what exactly makes a 'traditional' radiator? The vintage radiator is one which has a design recognised through the ages. With cast iron radiators harking back to the Victorian era, the traditional radiator implies a cultured and classy property. The stately nature of the cast iron is propped up ever further by its clever design which makes it ever-popular today. With their sturdy loops of metal bringing potent heating, utilising the gaps between the columns, it's no wonder that the unfailing design is a must for any heating-conscious home.

Traditional Radiators FAQs

Traditional radiators are a type of heating system that was the most common type of heating in the UK until the 1960s. They have since been replaced by other types of heating and radiators, but they are still used in many homes today, and if anything are making a comeback in the interior design world. Todays traditional radiators emulate the same style from the Edwardian and Victorian eras but with modern engineering to power them.

A traditional radiator is shaped like a column and is made from metals such as stainless steel or mainly cast iron. There are no moving parts, instead it relies on convection and radiation to heat up the air in the room. This is achieved by having hot water or steam flow through pipes inside the radiator. The hot water then heats up the metal causing it to radiate heat outwards into the room.

  • High heat output - Traditional radiators continuously emit a large amount of heat. This is owing to the huge surface area, which allows them to maintain a constant flow of heat, even in models with fewer columns.
  • High range of sizes - Traditional radiators are divided down into columns, which means there is a large variety of sizes available to fit both wall and room sizes.
  • Different designs - Not only are there a range of size options for traditional radiators, but that is also true for horizontal and vertical designs. We have a high range of colors and finishes for you to pick from.
  • We have a huge range of Valves available for you to choose from that are compatible with our traditional radiators. You can find modern-looking valves or more traditional options available. At the end of the day, it all comes down to the style you want to create in the room.
