At DRD all of our radiators have warranties, but they do vary depending on brand and material. The lowest warranty we offer is 2 years. This can range all the way up to a 25 year guarantee!
Stainless Reputation
Simply put if you are conscious of the life span and the length of the guarantee provided with the new radiator you are considering purchasing, start off by looking at Stainless Steel radiators or cast iron radiators for a traditional touch.
Most designer radiators are made from normal or mild steel, as it is low-cost, easy to work with and can be shaped and finished in a variety of exciting ways. Typically however the guarantee period will be 5 years for any reputable brand.
Aluminium is a step higher, and will typically come with a guarantee of between 5 to 15 years depending on the manufacturer who makes the radiator.
Stainless Steel Radiators however often boasts 20 to 25 years on its guarantee. Stainless steel is just that much more hard-wearing and able to stand up to the test of time. For this reason we completely 100% recommend stainless steel if you plan on having a radiator in any kind of wet environment.

What is a Guarantee?
The guarantee on designer radiators exists to cover any fault that may be down to how it was manufactured. So just two quick examples;
- Your stainless steel radiator leaks from a weld after 19 years of use – Covered under your guarantee
- Your radiator arrives damaged – Covered by courier insurance, not the guarantee
It’s important to note that most manufacturers provide these guarantees under the contractual understanding that you have the radiator installed by a qualified professional and take reasonable care in keeping your water system chemically clean so that contaminants in the system don’t corrode the radiator from the inside out over time. Usually, this would be a chemical treatment once a year.
If you take care of the radiators and you won’t ever need to make use of the guarantee!

Guarantees as an Indicator of Radiator Quality
We often receive calls on our helpline where a customer has seen such a radiator from brand X or Y, and it is very cheap, made from normal/mild steel and it comes with a 20-year guarantee… Sounds too good to be true, right?
Well unfortunately the likelihood is that yes; that is indeed too good to be true. If they seem preposterously cheap and have a guarantee skewed way off into the future, the chances are you will never be able to follow up on that guarantee 5, 10 or 15 years later, because the manufacturer will likely no longer exist.
The radiators in question are likely bought by the container load from China and will be more trouble than they are worth. It is a low level of quality which we refuse to provide. The profit, if we sold them, would be exceptional, but the amount of work afterwards in correcting the problems we would face would be colossal.
