Engineers recommend that radiators installed around 15+ Years ago should be replaced, this is mainly due to the fact that new technologies and more efficient radiators have been created in this time, but if you’ve maintained your radiator well then you wont need to. This depends on what you like, aluminium radiators heat up quicker than other radiators, but also cool down quicker, so you can turn your boiler off sooner but it's likely you’ll have to turn it on again after an hour or two. Cast iron radiators are the opposite, taking longer to heat but staying warmer for longer, you’ll have to keep your radiator on at the beginning for longer before it heats up. But once you turn it off, you won't have to switch it on again for quite a while.
